Travel Day #1 - We arrived in Guatemala City Airport to be greeted by our driver Freddy from Antigua Shuttle . He was so friendly and happy to tell us all about Guatemala. We headed straight to Antigua from the airport to our Airbnb. We stayed in this beautiful Spanish house in the city center on Calle de Los Duelos Barrio Santo Domingo. It had a full kitchen (shared), rooftop terrace, sun room, patio, and private bathroom with everything you need. The room didn't have AC but you don't need it when the weather is perfect! 80's during the day and a cool breeze at night. 

We walked the entire city center in Antigua. Bring comfortable shoes and a pretty dress, so you can take beautiful pictures. I wore our Bloom from the Inside out Wrap Dress, our Boho headband, and our Fanny Pack/ Crossbody. Our Wrap dress was so comfortable, it breathes very well and I felt beautiful which is the most important thing when you're taking pictures. We ate at Rincon Tipico close to the yellow church. Handmade tortillas being made right in front, beautiful decor, very affordable ($16 for two Platos Fuertes - Meat, Rice, Salad, and Tortillas. Includes drink and tip). 

[*** Side Note- Exchange all your dollar currency to Quetzals (past customs on the left - they have a better rate then the first kiosk). If you decide not to exchange all of it, please be aware that your dollars have to be in PERFECT condition or you will not be able to use them. ]

Day 2- Explored Antigua 

We woke up early, so we can take a picture under the famous Santa Catalina Arch. Then headed for breakfast conveniently located next to the arch - Hotel Convento Santa Catalina. They had a 2 for one special for their typical dish which also included coffee and a cookie appetizer under $20 dollars. 

We spent the morning and afternoon walking around, wondering into every church and being in awe with all the beauty. The city is filled with cute shops, local coffee, and lots of natural juice places. The city is very safe and there's no worries on wandering into a bad part of town. 

We took an afternoon break and went to the famous Cafe Sky to enjoy a refreshing Mojito. Cafe Sky is known for their beautiful view of the volcano. 

We did not want to leave Antigua without trying their national dish - Pepian (Stew). So we took a local suggestion and headed to La Cuevita which is known for their stews. This was the best place we ate the entire time, so delicious. It was so much food so this counted as lunch and dinner. They also have a rooftop terrace which overlooks Antigua. It's truly a beautiful place. 

We finished the day with some more walking and headed back to our Airbnb in time to watch the sunset on our rooftop terrace. We bought natural juice and a small bottle of their local rum and made drinks to end the night.

It does get chilly at night. I suggest bringing a light jacket. 

Day 3- The end of our time in Antigua. Our shuttle picked us up at 5:30 a.m with a bus full of travelers and headed to Lake Atitlan.
